CDC MASK UPDATE
EFFECTIVE MONDAY 3/7/2022
Good Morning Parents,
The CDC has updated mask guidance for K12 schools, early child care settings, buses and public transportation.
Mask are no longer required by staff and students in K12.
Mask are certainly optional and should be provided by the parents. This was discussed in a meeting with Physician's from Public Health, CMC and all school nurses in Montgomery County yesterday during our Zoom meeting.
Montgomery County numbers have declined significantly. The County is considered a medium risk currently, which complies with the CDC updates in regards to masking. Population immunity levels have increased due to vaccines and natural immunity.
Future viral models indicate nothing on the horizon in regards to the virus or any variants according to the Physicians in the meeting. Any cases will still be reported to Public Health and monitored closely.
CMC is also still offering vaccine clinics for children.
Please discuss these changes with your students. Some of our students have worn a mask since they began school, so this transition may be difficult. Again, masks are and option if you do not feel comfortable with the CDC update. Please be aware you will be responsible for providing your student with a facial covering.
Please contact Nurse Jodi with any concerns or questions.
