The Dayton Leadership Academies school district consists of one building serving students in grades K – 8. The district serves students from around the Dayton area, including students from Dayton, Trotwood, and Jefferson Township.

Dayton Leadership Academies is sponsored by the Fordham Foundation. We have an enrollment of approximately 442 students.

Academic Achievements

Dayton Leadership Academies has made significant gains in reading and math growth over the past three years.
In 2018-2019 DLA students made a median of 1.37 years of growth in reading and 1.25 years of growth in math.

Improved Proficiency on AIR Tests

Dayton Leadership Academies has seen incremental increases in proficiency and growth on the Ohio state tests.

From 17-18 to 18-19 ELA proficiency increased 4% with 31% of students improving one performance level. 
From 17-18 to 18-19 Math proficiency increased 6% with 23% of students improving one performance level. 

 



Third Grade Reading Score Increases
Our third grade reading scores increased 6% in one year. 26% of DLA students obtained the passing score the AIR reading test in Spring 2019.

 


Curriculum

At Dayton Leadership Academies, our classrooms are filled with rigor and joy.
We use rigorous curriculum based on Common Core standards.

K-2 Core Knowledge Language Arts, Guided Reading and Accountable Independent Reading, and Eureka Math

3-8 Expeditionary Learning Language Arts, Guided Reading and Accountable Independent Reading, Eureka Math, Science Fusion, and TCI Social Studies

Students take art, music, and PE classes daily. 

Assessments: We regularly monitor students’ growth and mastery of standards through i-Ready assessments and then use data to drive instruction.

Intervention: We provide small group instruction daily using guided reading, Leveled Literacy Instruction (LLI), Wilson Reading, Do The Math, and individualized learning for every student through i-Ready online instruction.

Resources: We offer a range of instructional technology – class set of Chromebooks and iPads, SmartBoards in every classroom, document cameras and e-voters in every classroom, and two computer labs. Teachers and students have access to guided reading library, novel sets, and math manipulatives.
